Block Party Rentals

Block Party Rentals NYC: Everything Your Block Needs, From One Crew

Celebration Entertainment is a Brooklyn party rental company, and block parties are one of the jobs we do most every summer. One truck brings the bounce house, the canopies, the tables and chairs, the popcorn machine and the sound. One crew sets it all up on the street, and the same crew takes it all away before the street reopens.

We also help with the part most block associations dread: the paperwork. We send the inspection and insurance papers the city asks for with inflatables, and the NYC block party permit guide below walks you through the rest.

  • Set up on the street

Inflatables on asphalt are held down with heavy sandbags, never stakes, and every canopy leg gets a weight.

  • Papers for the permit

Inspection and insurance certificates for our inflatables, ready for your CECM application and for the day of the party.

  • Sized to your block

Tell us how many kids and neighbors you expect and we match the inflatables, canopies and tables to it.

  • Priced as a job, not a box

Packages from $1,695 for 6 hours, with delivery, setup and pickup inside. Minimum order $595 in Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens.

Packages

Block Party Packages From $1,695, Delivered and Set Up

Most block parties need the same four things: something for the kids to jump on, shade, a snack and music. Each package is priced as one job, with delivery, setup on the street, sandbags and weights, the papers for the inflatables and pickup at the end of the day. Add anything from the equipment list below.

How the time and servings work. Every package is 6 hours: 30 minutes for our crew to set up, 5 hours of play and 30 minutes to break down. Servings are counted, not unlimited. If the crowd is bigger than the servings in the package, extra popcorn is $2.75 per serve, extra cotton candy is $2 per serve and extra snow cones are $2.50 per serve, and each extra attendant hour is $75.

Hot dogs. Add a hot dog station to any package: $375 with an attendant for 2 hours, then $3.50 per hot dog with the bun, ketchup, mustard and napkins included, and $75 for each extra attendant hour. The attendant stays with the grill the whole time. Our commercial roller grill cooks 30 hot dogs at once and keeps the buns warm in its drawer, so it serves about 100 hot dogs an hour. It draws about 2,000 watts, so it needs its own 20 amp outlet or a generator.

Ice for snow cones. Please have 2 to 3 bags of ice ready in a cooler or another container that keeps it cold. We cannot travel with ice, so the customer provides it.

Power. You provide electricity on site: a standard outlet on the block for each blower and machine. If there is no outlet close enough, or the neighbors would rather not share their power, add a generator for $275 to $375 with gas included.

Stage size. The stage in the Full Street Party is 12×8 ft with steps. We can build any size stage, bigger or smaller; a bigger stage is at additional cost, quoted by size.

Bigger street or more than one day? Multi-block and multi-day street events need a different permit, and we quote them with the stage, sound and generator on one truck. Add face painters, balloon artists or a DJ to any package.

Block Party Equipment

Block Party Equipment Rental: What to Rent for a Block Party

What to rent depends on the block. A closed street is asphalt, so everything is weighted, not staked, and anything that plugs in needs an outlet from a house on the block or a generator. Here is what block associations rent from us most, and what each one costs.

Inflatable obstacle course and bounce house with slide held down by sandbags on a closed New York City street for a block party
Inflatables on a closed street are held down with heavy sandbags at every anchor point, never staked into the asphalt.

Bounce Houses and Combos: From $395

The center of every block party. Bounce houses start at $395 and combos with a slide start at $475. The price depends on how long you keep it: 2 hours is the minimum and 6 hours is the longest we rent, which covers most block parties. Each one comes with its blower, sandbags on every anchor point and a crew that checks it before the kids go in.
  • Bounce houses from $395, combos from $475
  • 2 hour minimum, up to 6 hours
  • Sandbags on asphalt, never stakes
  • You provide an outlet, or add a generator

Obstacle Courses and Slides: From $775

For the older kids and the grown-ups. An obstacle course is big, and it takes a truck and a full crew to set up, so it starts at $775. Slides start at $795. Like every inflatable, the price depends on the hours: 2 hour minimum, up to 6 hours. An obstacle course runs two racers at a time, so the line keeps moving.
  • Obstacle courses from $775
  • Slides from $795
  • 2 hour minimum, up to 6 hours
  • Delivery, setup and pickup included

Pop-Up Canopies: From $150

Shade for the food table, the music and the grandparents. A 10x10 pop-up canopy is $150 and a 10x20 is $250, and every leg gets a weight because a city street cannot be staked.

  • 10x10 $150, 10x20 $250
  • A weight on every leg
  • Line them up down the sidewalk
  • More sizes on the tent page

Snack Machines and Hot Dogs: From $250

The smell of popcorn is how the whole block finds the party, and on a hot day the snow cones are the hit. Popcorn, cotton candy and snow cone machines are $250 each with an attendant for the first hour, and every serving is counted. The hot dog station is $375 with an attendant for 2 hours, and each hot dog is $3.50 with the bun, ketchup, mustard and napkins included. For snow cones, you provide 2 to 3 bags of ice in a cooler, since we cannot travel with ice.
  • Machines $250, attendant for 1 hour
  • Popcorn $2.75, cotton candy $2, snow cones $2.50 per serve
  • Hot dog station $375, $3.50 per hot dog
  • Extra attendant hour $75

Sound, Stage and Microphone: From $695

Music, announcements and the raffle winners. The PA package is $695 with two speakers, a mixer and a wireless microphone. A small stage starts at $850 for the talent show, the pastor or the local band. Amplified sound on the street needs the $45 NYPD sound permit.

  • PA package $695
  • Stage from $850, any size, bigger or smaller
  • DJs available
  • Sound permit from your precinct, $45

Tables, Chairs and Power

Tables for the food, chairs for the neighbors and power for everything that plugs in. Tables and chairs ride on the same truck, and when no house on the block can lend an outlet we bring a generator.

  • Tables and chairs on the same truck
  • Generators when needed
  • Weighted, street-safe setup
  • Everything gone before the street reopens

Our hot dog station: a roller grill that cooks 30 at a time, with an attendant serving the line.

Inflatables on the street. The city asks for an inspection certificate and insurance for every bounce house or ride at a permitted block party. We provide both for our inflatables and can name your block association on the insurance certificate, so the application and the day of the party go smoothly.

Permit Guide

Block Party Permit NYC: How to Get One, Step by Step

A block party permit in New York City comes from the Citywide Event Coordination and Management office, known as CECM (it used to be called SAPO). The rules below are the citywide ones. Your community board may add its own deadline or date limits, so check with them early.

Block Party Permit NYC in 6 Steps

  1. Start with your block association. The applicant has to be a member of a block association and have the neighbors on board. Many community boards ask for a petition signed by most of the block.
  2. Apply online at least 60 days ahead. Apply through the CECM online system on nyc.gov. Some community boards ask for 90 days, and summer dates fill up, so apply as soon as you pick a date.
  3. Pay the application fee. It is small, about $25, paid by card when you apply.
  4. Plan the day inside the rules. One block, one day, up to 9 consecutive hours, and no rain date. The party must be open to everyone on the block, and nothing can be sold: no fees, no fundraising, no vendors, no alcohol and no sponsors.
  5. Get the sound permit. Any amplified sound, from background music to a microphone, needs an NYPD sound device permit from your local precinct. It costs $45; request it at least 5 days before the party.
  6. Collect the rental papers. Bounce houses and rides need a DOB inspection certificate and insurance; we send ours for our inflatables when you book. A generator at a permitted event needs an FDNY certificate, so if your block has no outlet, tell us early and we plan it with you.

Delivery

Delivery, Setup and What It Costs

Setup and takedown are included on every block party. We arrive in the morning before the street fills up, set up the inflatables, canopies, tables and sound where you want them, and check everything before the first kid goes in. At the end of the day we take it all down and clear the street before it reopens to traffic.

The prices on this page include delivery, setup and pickup in Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens. The Bronx, Staten Island, Long Island, Westchester, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania are quoted with a travel fee by distance from Brooklyn 11230, and you get that number before you book. Minimum order is $595 in Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens, and $995 everywhere else.

Block party dates cluster on summer Saturdays and we only have so many trucks, so book as soon as your permit date is set. We are open 8am to 8pm seven days a week and answer text messages until midnight.

Servings are counted, not unlimited. Each package lists the servings it includes, and each machine comes with an attendant for the first hour. Tell us how many kids and adults you expect; if the crowd needs more, extra popcorn is $2.75 per serve, extra cotton candy is $2 per serve and extra snow cones are $2.50 per serve, with cones, straws and syrups in many flavors included, and each extra attendant hour is $75. The CECM block party application fee is small, about $25, paid by card when you apply online. If you want music or a microphone, the NYPD sound device permit is $45 from your local precinct. Your rental company covers the inspection and insurance papers for inflatables.

Apply online through the Citywide Event Coordination and Management office (CECM) at least 60 days before the date. The applicant must belong to a block association and have the neighbors on board, and many community boards ask for a petition. Block parties are one block, one day, up to 9 hours, with no rain date. Get the NYPD sound permit at least 5 days before.

Most blocks rent one or two inflatables for the kids, two to four pop-up canopies for shade, tables and chairs, a popcorn or cotton candy machine and a small sound system for music and announcements. Bigger blocks add a stage and a generator. Tell us your block and your headcount and we suggest the mix.

Yes. On asphalt we never stake. Every anchor point on the inflatable gets a heavy sandbag, and the blower runs from an outlet on the block or our generator. Our crew checks the setup before anyone plays.

Yes. The city asks for a DOB inspection certificate and insurance for bounce houses and rides at a permitted block party. We send both for our inflatables when you book, and we can name your block association on the insurance certificate.

No. A permitted NYC block party has to be free and open to everyone on the block: no fees, no fundraising, no vendors, no alcohol and no sponsors. You can hand out popcorn, cotton candy and snow cones for free.

Block party permits do not allow a rain date, so watch the forecast. Inflatables cannot be used in rain or high wind. If the forecast turns, call or text us and we will talk through the options before the truck leaves.

Every block party rental is 6 hours: 30 minutes for our crew to set up, 5 hours of play, and 30 minutes to break down. We agree the times when you book. Most block parties are set up in the morning, before the street fills, and picked up before the permit window ends so the street reopens on time. Extra hours are quoted when you book.

Yes, the customer provides electricity on site. Each bounce house blower and each concession machine plugs into a standard outlet (the hot dog grill draws about 2,000 watts and needs its own 20 amp outlet), and most blocks run a cord from a house. If there is no outlet close enough, or the neighbors would rather not share their power, add a generator: $275 to $375 with gas included, and the city asks for an FDNY certificate for a generator at a permitted event, so tell us early and we plan it with you. The Full Street Party package already includes one.

As soon as you have your permit date. Summer Saturdays book up first, and the permit itself has to be filed at least 60 days ahead.
